Nine months from first visit to reservation, Benissa coast, what happened when
January. Two weeks in a rented flat in Moraira, mostly to test whether my wife could work from there. She could. The fibre was fine, the coffee less so.
March. We decided the house had to be between Calpe and Moraira, on the Benissa coast, because of the coves and because it is quieter than both towns. Budget set at 420 000 with the renovation included, we are Danish and Danish people always include the renovation.
April to July. Every Sunday evening I went through the new listings on https://alegria-realestate.com/ for that stretch of coast and put anything under 450 into a note on the phone. By July the note had 23 lines and my wife stopped reading it.
August. Second visit, nine viewings in five days. Two of the nine were really good, one was a villa on a slope with a 1970s kitchen, the other a newer house with less view and no work to do.
September, last week. Reservation paid on the villa with the 1970s kitchen. My wife wanted the view. The kitchen is now my project, the tiles are already chosen, brown and orange, we are keeping them.
Notary is planned for November. The engineer who checked the slope said the house has stood there 50 years and will stand 50 more, which is the most Spanish sentence I heard this year.
